Caine Me?

I don’t know how to begin this free writing stuff but I have been meaning to do this in a while. So this is it. I want to talk about Horatio Caine. For those of you who has “who?!” in their heads right now, needs to snap out of it and go get a life or at least pay attention on what you’re watching every Monday nights.
Anyway, back to Mr Caine. He is the best boss ever! He cares for his employees and he is so sexy. He is very subtle but firm. Hmm..in other words he is not easily swayed and he has the balls to stand on his ground. I remembered one episode when Eric wanted to protect the identify of a cop in the investigation they are doing and he kept the name of the cop a secret from everybody. He went straight to the cop and told the cop he is being investigated and asked the cop to tell him his side of the story. Eric did this all on his own and when Horatio found out, he didn’t go ballistic and cut off Eric’s neck or anything, like some bosses would. They (non-horatio bosses) wants us to respect their authority BUT in every occasion we screw up, they came after our heads.Dictator! What Horatio did was that, with a straight but caring face(not to mention sexy!sexy!sexy!) he said “ I know you are trying to watch out for Detective (what’s his name?), but do tell me next time so that I can watch yours. But Eric, Good job” Sigh. Anybody else is melting out there?? That’s how you do this people, you don’t get angry and turn into Frankenstein but you use strong powerful words that can make people melt.. er what I mean is to get people to understand and remember and learn from their mistakes not remember how their boss’ face turn red like a cook lobster and steam included!. That’s not how you get respect. You get respect from how you behave and how you execute things or the way you lead and inspire people. You don’t get respect by demanding people to give one to you.Dictator!
I also noticed (yeah..i noticed a lot of things about him) that he never failed to praise his employees for doing a good job. There’s always a “good work, great job, nicely done” that will accompany his serious smile. This is how you do it, PRAISE in PUBLIC but Criticize in Private (this applies ONLY when you deal with your employee one on one. It doesn’t apply to gossiping behind ones back).
The non-horatio normal bosses would simply take the good job you have done and make it theirs and take all the credit for it. If they don’t do that then every time you do a good job and you are beaming with happiness and go and share it with them and all you get was a smug face and a grunt. No support, no motivation just deep unsuppressed aggravation! Geez!
Okay back to Horatio. He cares about the victims as well, I remembered how he promised that girl that he would find her parents killer and he did. He came to the funeral and stayed at the back and when the girl turn and saw him, she knew that the parents’ killers were caught. I know, I know, it’s a bit too much of a Hollywood content but you have to admit that there are some good values that we can follow or least hope for.
I guess in life these little things make you forget the worries for a little while and hope for an ideal tomorrow or future. You want to experience the bliss of having a supportive and caring boss and yet he/she also inspires and motivates you to do the best of your abilities. Oh well, one can’t help is one likes to dream and imagine that one is in Miami and working with Mr Caine. Suckers!!
